Vinyl is a great material to have a fencing service use to create your fence. It is durable, resistant to weathering, and is aesthetically pleasing. However, just as with other types of fencing, it is going to need to be cleaned when it gets dirty. There are certain methods that are effective for cleaning your fence and this article is going to discuss three tips for cleaning your vinyl fencing.
Don't Use Too Much Water Pressure
While water is going to be essential for cleaning your vinyl fencing, it is very important that you carefully regulate the pressure that is behind the water that you are using. A great tool for cleaning your fence with water is going to be a watering hose with a spray nozzle on it. The spray nozzle is going to allow you to localize where you want the water to spray. The nozzle is also going to put some pressure behind your steam of water, without being too powerful and damaging. Power washers should generally be avoided because they can cause a lot of damage to your vinyl if you aren't skilled with using one.
Use a Bleach-Based Cleaner
While a hose is going to be effective at removing a lot of the dirt, dust, and debris off of your fence, it sometimes isn't going to get everything. There may be some stubborn areas that need a cleaning agent to help get that actually remove the stain. When it comes to choosing a cleaner, finding one that has bleach in it is important. The bleach is going to effectively remove the stain from the fence by breaking it down. Thankfully, since the fence is lighter in color, you don't have to worry about the bleach causing the area that you cleaned to turn a different color from the rest of the fence.
Use a Melamine Foam
If you find that you need something to scrub your fence with, either for a stain or for dirt that is stubbornly stuck on, a piece of melamine foam is going to be very effective. The foam is going to break down as you use it, but it will effectively scrub pretty much anything off of your fence as it is breaking down. It is going to work well with or without cleaners. The only thing you need to be careful of when using a piece of melamine foam is scrubbing the same area for too long because it could cause the finish of the vinyl to start coming off.
